Day 26 Katherine Gorge – 25th July (Friday)

Back down the red centre today to Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk). Took us about 3 hours from Kakadu. The park is very pretty, back to red dirt and stones rather than grass but the amenities are clean and the pool is amazing, possibly the best so far. We swam this afternoon and relaxed listening to some entertainment by the pool. Very warm here must be about 35degrees. Off tomorrow for some bush walks. Starting early to avoid the heat.

Kakadu Day 25 – 24th July (Thursday)

Today me and dad rode to the bakery to get some fresh bread. At 11:30 we drove to Cooinda and went on the Yellow River Cruise. It took us 12 km up a billabong and a lady talked about all the wildlife, we saw Sea Eagles, Jabirus, whistling ducks, rainbow bee eater, king fisher, itchy tree’s, beautiful lily pads and lots of crocodiles. The lady got us up so close to them we could almost touch them. Me and Max were on the sides so we could see heaps.
Then we swam in the pool all afternoon. Tonight we sat around the pool and a Kakadu Ranger told us all about the Water Buffalo. Mum ate a piece of raw buffalo meat, Yuck !!!

Kakadu day 24 – 23rd July (Wednesday)

Adam and Max went early to the river crossing to fish. Holly, Sam and I hang out at pool. They returned at lunchtime they caught about 25 Barra but all undersize. There was a big croc there that had a tracker on him, he was about 4.5 meters.
In the afternoon we went and saw some aboriginal artwork at Nourlangie (Burrunggui). The bush walk was really nice amongst tree’s and rock faces. Kids found the artwork pretty boring but thought one picture was very amusing. (Picture below). πŸ˜‚
We then went to Ubirr to watch the sunset over Arnhem Land. It was magical. It reminded Max and me of the scenery in the Lion King looking over the ‘Pride Lands’. It was about 1km walk up to the rocky lookout. Sheer drop below. Amazing……..

Kakadu day 23 – 22nd July (Tuesday)

Today we came to Kakadu from Darwin, when we got there we thought this place is cool. We got set up we went to the pool. The pool was cold and there was a cold spa.

We were on our way to watch a sunset over Arnhemland. We then came across a river crossing called Cahill’s Crossing where people were catching fish, so we decided to fish instead of the sunset. We saw a few crocodiles we caught 8 Barramundi’s but they were all undersize. I caught 5 and dad caught 3, mum Holly and Sam stood at the look out, when it was dark we came back to the park. Me and dad are going back in the morning to hopefully catch some that are size. Max

Darwin Day 22 – 21st July (Monday) β˜€οΈ

Today we went to Berry Springs, we weren’t expecting much because we haven’t heard a great deal about them but we were really surprised it was beautiful and just as good, if not better than Mataranka and Bitter Springs.

It was hilarious when we got there because Adam had blisters on his heels and when he hoped in, the fresh water prawns were biting his heels he was screaming and everyone was watching he almost drowned Sam. It was unbelievable. πŸ˜€.

Then in the afternoon we went to the Palmerston water park it was FREE! Hard to believe. Adam challenged me to a race on the aqua racer. Kicked my butt. I bet his back will be feeling it in the morning.

Off to Kakadu tomorrow.

Darwin Day 21 – 20th July (Sunday)

Today we had a sleep in, did some preparation (washing and grocery shopping) before we leave on Tuesday back down the centre. We spent some time in the afternoon relaxing, drinking and eating by the resort pool.

Then tonight we went to the famous Mindil Market. Sunset was gorgeous, beach was packed with travelers and Fothergill’s you would have loved all the international foods on the menu for dinner, Chinese, Japanese, local seafood, wood fire pizza, Greek souvlaki to name just a few. Too many options……

Max brought himself a salt water crocodile scull which came with a
License of authenticity he thinks it’s the best. Hope it survives the journey home. (And Sam)!

We saw yet another entertainer this one was fantastic kids loved him. Specialty was fire, he did some super tricks. These guys travel Australia busking.

Great night. Going to miss this place. πŸŒ΄β˜€οΈ

Darwin Day 20 – 19th July (Saturday)

Today we had a relaxing day,
We started off just jumping on the jumping pillow then we thought of going to the wave pool for the morning but we ended up staying the whole day ( lucky we weren’t doing anything). It was very fun the waves were good and pretty big, mum and dad liked it because they were just sun baking. There was a baby area for Sam. The wave pool is on the Darwin waterfront. It’s so good down there. β˜€οΈπŸ¦
