Darwin Day 19 – 18th July ( Friday )

We started the day going to the fish feeding in Darwin at the fore shore, when we got there we were amazed at how many fish there were as we got started feeding with bread, the fish we saw were diamond scaled mullet and milk fish then we went out deeper because it was to crowded. There we saw a lot of cat fish and some giant Trevelly, then we went to a ramp where we went into water up to our knee’s hand feed and touched the milk fish that were about a meter long, we saw some bat fish where it was shallow which looked like big angel fish. I got really wet and feed them which they would suck it from your hands then in the water far away we saw some dolphins it was great.

After fish feeding we went back to the caravan park for a swim and some lunch so we got ready and went to the pool. When we got there we were surprised because there was no one there and last time we went there it was packed!! We had a swim and the restaurant next to it opened at 12:00 so when it hit 12:00 mum went to the restaurant to get some chips and of course for herself a coffee β˜•οΈπŸŸso as you could tell Max jumped out of the pool like crazy to eat those chips.

To end the day off we went to a 3:00, Adelaide River tour called Jumping Crocodiles we saw lots of Jumping crocs some of them were very big and if your wondering how they get them to jump it is with food. The tour was amazing couldn’t get any better🐊🐊.

Darwin day 18 – 17th July (Thursday)

Today we woke up and went to Crocosaurus Cove. It was excellent, it had the biggest Australian reptile display we have ever seen. There were some huge croc’s called Bert, Kate and William, Harry to name a few. We feed the little salt water crocs with fishing rods. Me and Max also had a photo taken holding a small croc. Sam didn’t want to. It was a great place. Max was so excited as he loved all the reptiles and brought a lizard book from the souvenir store called “What’s that Lizard”. Then we swam back at the resort and went to the Darwin waterfront in the late afternoon. We saw huge fish swimming in the water along the wharf. Weather is 34 degrees and hot.

Litchfield National Park – Day 16 – 15th July (Tuesday)

Started the day with a terrible toddler refusing to pretty much do anything !! 😠😀. So me and kids went on a walk along ‘Walker Creek’ which was really nice while Adam looked for anyone willing to adopt an awful child.

When we returned Sam had partially recovered and we went for a swim in the river. We ended up having a great day swimming at an amazing waterfall called Florence falls it was really busy, Max freaking out with snorkel on, telling us fish were everywhere beneath us. We then did another walk to the Cascades, this walk was really hard as it was rocky and there were water crossings, (there was a warning sign for difficulty 😬) it was well worth it the rock pools at the top were great to swim in all having a little cascading waterfall into each, and surprisingly warm. The walk back was not fun!!! Stumbed toes and splinters just to name a few of todays injuries. Me and Adam looking forward to coming back here one day to do the remaining walks (without kids!!)….
Off to Darwin in the morning looking forward to it.

Litchfield National Park – Day 15 – 14th July

Only a short 3 hour drive to Litchfield today, tried to get into Wangi Falls but camps full by the time we arrived as we predicated, so staying at Safari camp with power, showers and kiosk with beer (what a shame πŸ˜‰)!
Set up and went to Wangi falls for a swim it is so beautiful, water cool but refreshing when it’s 32 degrees, we swam over to the other side beside the waterfalls. As water got deeper and darker you couldn’t help but swim pretty quick to get to those rocky banks. 🐊🐊 We swam all afternoon and tomorrow off to do some bush walking and more waterfalls.

Dad and I went fishing this morning. We used live bait for Barramundi called cherubim which is a fresh water prawn.
Dad caught 3 barramundi but they were just off size by 1mm, I caught 3 catfish.
We saw heaps of crocodiles about 60 salt water crocs. We had a great day.

Max

Me, Sam and mum were at the caravan park all day while dad and Max went fishing. Sam enjoyed it because he got to stay and play with the dogs but we also went in the pool for a swim. Mum needed milk so we drove through an aboriginal community it was freaky everyone was looking at us. We got petrol and milk we had to drive about 30km down the road.

Then we arrived at Daly River it was someone’s property we were staying at but it was a camp ground. Lots if Mango tree’s everywhere. They had heaps of staffy dogs me and Sam love them, one is called Holly . They reminded us of Murphy. We looked around we went to see the toilet they are simple but AWESOME!! Then we went to see the pool it is warm. We went for a swim, we had the pool all to ourselves.
Tomorrow Max and dad are fishing.

Day 12 Mataranka 11th July (Friday)

We Started the day with Barramundi feeding in Mataranka, it was good, the fish are huge, we also saw turtles and plenty of cane toads. We went to Bitter Springs which was a highlight, you float down the spring under tree branches and spiders webs, the spiders looked nasty. Noodles are a must as the river is quite long and very deep. Crystal clear water and really warm approx 33 degrees. It felt very surreal !!
Back to our resort and soaked all afternoon in the Mataranka Spring me and Adam exhausted and waterlogged and the kids still have plenty of energy.
The nights entertainment was a cowboy using a whip he was amazing he also was a fire thrower. Holly loved it. Again a country band and open fire. These oldies party every night, me and Adam too tired……how do they do it ??? Had a visitor for dinner who Sam feed his vegetable too!
Tomorrow we move on to Daly River. It’s 2 days of fishing for the boys while me and Holly sleep in and swim by the pool. (Hope these fishing villages have pools)!
