Day 35 – Port Douglas – 3rd August (Sunday)

Headed up the winding road to Port Douglas today. The road follows the coastline and it is spectacular over looking the Great Barrier Reef. The drive is about 65 km. It is a beautiful place. We went through the Sunday market which had a variety things from chocolate coated frozen bananas to arts and crafts. Max and Cody brought a travel chess board (loves playing chess) and a sling shot. Ainsley and Holly had there hair done with a hair wrap. We sat by the water and had a picnic lunch. On the way back to Cairns just out of Port Douglas Max spotted what we thought was a large lizard on the side of road but it was a small crocodile. We hoped of the car to take some photos.
Adam and I left the kids with nana and pa and caught a plane out to Melbourne for Ma’s funeral tomorrow. It was a shock arriving at Tullamarine airport at 12:00 midnight in a pair of thongs. 4 degrees !! ❄️
